Dawson’s Creek
March 17, 2007
This began in 1998 and I think it spurred the teen show phenomenon in the US in the Philippines. It aired on WB along with Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Roswell.
I used to rely on my friend for newer seasons. She had a sister in the States who taped the episodes for her. On hindsight, that’s our life before the advent of Makati Cinema Square (you know why), Limewire, You Tube, and Bit Torrent. We’ve gone a long way, baby– technologically, that is.
Moving on, I think Season 3 was the most exciting of all because that’s where Pacey (Joshua Jackson) and Joey (Katie Holmes) get together. Yes, my teenage brain, at that time lived for stories like these. So here’s a clip I’ve managed to grab from YouTube. It’s Episode 19 from Season 3 where cute Jonathan Lipnicki has a cameo appearance.

Sad to say, I can recall with painful clarity when my batchmates from college would move heaven and hell to get home early enough from work to catch Dawson’s Creek on Studio 23. Of course nowadays, there’s very little impetus to do so, what with the ready availability of everything either through pirated DVDs or torrents, but still, in many ways this show is truly representative of its period. But hey, maybe it’s just me.

Hi Sir Borra, thanks for visiting this blog. I have to agree that there was a different kind of thrill when you waited for a TV network to show an episode of your favorite series…it’s different from the anxiety you feel while you wait for your torrent to download.

i loved Dawson’s Creek. only that, they had to end it with joey and pacey together… i like the part where joey joined this beauty pageant and sang “on my own”.. those where the days when katie holmes was america’s sweetheart.

Yeah…nowadays she’s just Mrs. Tom Cruise. I’m happy though that Suri turned out to be cute else I’ll be really disappointed. You know how genes can sometimes play games on you…
