Baduy Moment: Valiente and afternoon soap operas

Okay so we all ended school early when we were kinder until the third grade. When I was a kid, I was given two choices in terms of scheduling my schooling. I could go to the AM schedule or the PM schedule. If you’re ‘pang-umaga’, you began school at 7:30am and you ended at 12nn. If you’re ‘pang-hapon’, you began school at 12:45pm and ended at 5pm.
I was a ‘pang-umaga’ from prep until third grade. After I ate my lunch, I used to watch that soap opera on GMA 7 entitled Valiente. The main plot was about two brothers. Michael de Mesa and Tirso Cruz III, who were quarreling for the love of Melissa Mendez (and her character’s name was EMILY) and for the succession of power in the hacienda. Michael De Mesa’s character, because of his good heart, in the end got the hacienda and married Emily.

I’m going to digress a bit and say that I have an idea for GMA and ABS-CBN. I think they should create DVD sets of their old shows and then they should sell them. Imagine, we can relive Anna Luna, Agila, Mara Clara, Esperanza, Valiente, and Villa Quintana in our homes!
