If Sega had Sonic and Nintendo had Mario, back then, Sony had CRASH BANDICOOT. Crash Bandicoot was one of the first platform games which rocked the world. The game had cool levels, outrageous enemies, and lots of FUN. What was cool about it was that Crash had the ability to become invincible with some mask he needed to wear. (Aboombaga!)

These are the famous lines in one of the most popular casual rhythm-based button-mashing addicting game of all time – Parappa the Rapper! This first rhythm-based PS1 game had a simple story with the easiest mission: press the corresponding buttons at the correct time.
By doing so, Parappa, who happens to be a paper-thin rapping dog, would progress in the story and complete his mission of winning the heart of his lover, Sunny Funny. Oh my gosh! HAHA! Simple as it may sound, this game is best remembered for its unique gameplay, cool graphic design, outrageous characters, and crazy plot.

The PLAYSTATION – it’s every gamer’s dream back in the 90’s (1994 to be exact). It was the birth to 3d graphics and the use of CD-Rs which were both new to ever person. This obliterated the regime of Nintendo and the enemy of the gaming market, Sega Dreamcast.
This successful machine had a successful launch with almost all types of games, including Twisted mental, Warhawk, Ridge Racer, and many more. The machine was widely accepted by the market and continuously was supported by numerous gaming companies such as Konami (Metal Gear Solid franchise), Activision (Vigilante 8 and Tenchu), Namco (Ace Combat and Tekken), Squaresoft (Final Fantasy series), and MANY MORE! Up to now, because of the success of the PlayStation brand, it has expanded its name to better products (PS2, PSP, and PS3).
So, how was your PlayStation experience? What classic games did you play? Share your insights! Comment below.
Here’s a playstation commercial. Crash Bandicoot v.s. Parappa the Rapper. It’s in Jap tho, haha! Look at the guy in the middle, he’s wearing a Playstation machine on his head!
We laughed at it, we fed it, we played with it, we took care of it, we even cried when it died. This precious little creature that we all loved was our “Tamagotchi” cyber pet! Every kid, boy or girl during our “kidswereus” days had a tamagotchi game at hand. If I remember the game correctly, you had a creature to take care of, I recall having a dragon as my pet. I fed it with burgers, French fries, and softdrinks. I also played a game with my little dragon when it needed attention, and it clapped when it won against me. After we played consecutive games, I must let my cyber pet sleep or else it might get sick, and if it does it might die. A lot of kids really cried when their cyber pet died, its funny now but before it was something really depressing! Tamagotchi was incredibly popular among kids before that it was already banned in most schools for the reason that it was already interfering with our studies. Damn! I miss my Tamagotchi dragon! =(
Every kid during the 90’s had his or her own share of gunfights.
What? Yeah! Gunfights! WATER GUN FIGHTS! We just loved the thrill of hiding and shooting our opponents till they get soaked by our high-powered water guns!
During my younger days, I can still remember how me and my “playmates” bragged about how strong, big, and colorful our waterguns were! Unfortunate kids who had water pistols in a “water gun fight” were like poor defenseless lambs sent in a den of lions. Just imagine how they got soaked with the big water guns and how they ran home to their mommies (and got spanked because they were soaking wet).
Before the playstation, nintendo, xbox..we had the family computer. It was just the arrow keys and the buttons a and b. The games were in a cassette looking container.
My favorite game back then was battle city. It was a tank game. The players had to destroy the enemy tanks and prevent them from shooting the eagle. There are some flashing enemy tanks which carried power ups. My favorite was the star, it changes the look of your tank and you can shoot faster.
Whats your favorite family computer game? 🙂
