The Truth about Aroma Beads

I remember entering my classroom with some kindergarten classmates hovering over the windows while looking at a cotton ball with reverence. The cotton ball, I found out later, was used as an incubator to kisses beads.

One of my friends told me that our classmate was waiting for kisses to multiply.  Kisses was what we called colored aroma beads that we kids used to store in metal pencil cases. I usually saw it in green, pink, or blue.

According to the young kisses expert growers, you have to put them in twos or threes in a single cotton ball dipped in alcohol. You leave it alone for three days and when you come back for it, the beads have already reproduced.

Naturally I got curious about the kisses effect and tried it on my own and my little experiment yielded no success. I discovered that I was not born to breed…beads that is.

I found a picture of this childhood toy. It was oringally manufactured by the Japanese company named Tomi. The game involved simple tasks like shooting balls into nets, pin ball style, only the action occurs in water. Present game giants like Nintendo have resurrected the Tomi toy and have merged another classic character, the Mario Brothers, to bring back the nineties.

Ok, hold your horses people! I’m pretty sure you know who Arthur is (i.e. if you have cable and all – i channel). This was one of my favorite shows because it just tells you what a kid goes through during his childhood. Fighting with your siblings (and getting along with them!), having friends, fitting in school, raising parents (hehe!), and just dealing with whatever kids deal with! In the show all of the characters were animals, can u guys identify what types of animals were there (without using Google ah!)?

Well, that’s kinda hard. Since I wouldn’t know either. Hehe. But I really loved this show. 🙂

Sanrio in the 90s

Of the many characters Sanrio created, Pochacco one of the best to represent the nineties. Pochacco “grew up” in the nineties. He is drawn as a white dog with black floppy ears, but no visible mouth. He is often dressed in athletic attire, as he has a sporty and playful personality. He is the best three-on-three basketball player on the playground and a good goalie as well. His favorite food are banana ice cream and carrots (a vegetarian dog!)

Want to know which sanrio character are you? Take the test!

Which sanrio character do you want us to feature next? 🙂

  • Kidswereus Recalls (and ambitiously recommends) March 4, 2008
It’s been a year since we’ve begun this blog. Wahoo! It’s time to bring back the love to the next batch of SEO experts, bloggers, and internet marketers! This year’s theme is more social-oriented. I guess this idea came from our professor who thinks that the Internet is more than an all-in-one medium that integrates […]
  • Pop Swatch! November 1, 2007
They were funky, overly large, and well cute.  The Pop Swatch was born in the 80’s but it got to Manila during the nineties. My cousin was obsessed with collecting all the straps that would match. We would always pass by Gift Gate in the Greenhills Shopping Arcade so that we would see the new […]
  • Oh Tokyo! October 29, 2007
The show’s goal was simple: to give the Pinoys an overview of the Japanese culture. We love it for the host’s flawless translation of Japanese to Filipino. It also helps that she speaks in a sing-song voice while she asks the Tokyo-dwellers about their day-to-day living. Sad to say, this show stopped airing in RJ […]

  • For kicks: Guess this 90s Telenovela October 27, 2007
The year was 1998 and we, as a nation, have just recovered from the Thalia telenovela avalanche. We needed a change of pace so here’s a soap whose heroine is a child. Her height is as tiny as her voice! I love her show-gum smile and lengthy lashes. The story was interesting in the beginning: […]
